About Lindsey

Where it began

My interest in holistic therapies began in Japan, where I spent much of my twenties living and working. There, complementary therapies — massage, shiatsu, reflexology — are simply part of how people look after themselves. They are not considered alternative or unusual; they sit comfortably alongside everyday life as a natural way to maintain balance and wellbeing.

It was in Japan that I first encountered Reiki — learning it there felt entirely natural, in the country where it originated. The experience stayed with me. When I returned to the UK, I knew I wanted to retrain professionally and bring that same grounded, practical approach to caring for people here. I have been working as a therapist since 2010, and teaching since 2017. Japan remains a real part of who I am — I still teach Japanese language and culture classes alongside my therapy work.

A broad clinical background

Over fifteen years of practice, I have worked with a wide range of clients and clinical environments — and that breadth shapes every treatment I deliver today.

For several years I worked as therapy team leader in a hospice, delivering complementary therapies to palliative care patients and their families. It is work that many people assume must be difficult or sombre — in reality, it was some of the most meaningful and life-affirming work I have done. In that setting, the therapies I used — aromatherapy, massage, reflexology, energy work — had a direct and tangible impact on people's daily experience: helping to manage pain, ease breathing difficulties, support sleep, and bring calm to people navigating incredibly difficult emotions around diagnosis and end of life. The clinical precision required in that environment raised my practice to a level it would not otherwise have reached.

I have also worked extensively in community settings with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities — in children's homes, SEND schools, and community outreach programmes. Working with people who cannot always communicate their needs verbally has made me a much more attentive and responsive therapist. You learn to read the body, to adjust in real time, and to hold a calm and reassuring presence that communicates more than words can.

These experiences mean I am genuinely comfortable working with complex needs — physical, emotional, and neurological. That clinical confidence is something clients often notice, particularly those who have found other therapists less adaptable or less patient with what they need.

How I work

No two sessions at Brookes Therapies are the same, because no two clients are the same. Before every appointment I take the time to talk with you properly — not a quick form-filling exercise, but a real conversation about how you are feeling, what you are hoping for, and anything I should be aware of. What follows is built entirely around that.

The techniques I use, the oils I blend, the pressure I apply, the areas I focus on — all of it is adapted to suit you on that particular day. If you come regularly, your treatment will evolve as your needs change. If you come once, you will still leave with something specifically tailored to you, not a standard protocol applied to everyone.

I use professional-grade, organic products throughout — including Neal's Yard Remedies Organic — chosen both for their quality and for the care that has gone into how they are made. If you have allergies, sensitivities, or strong preferences, just let me know when you book and I will make sure everything is right for you.

Brookes Therapies & Wellbeing

Brookes Therapies is based at ReCoop Health in Nuneaton, Warwickshire — a calm, welcoming clinic environment that supports the kind of focused, unhurried care I believe every client deserves.

Alongside the client-facing practice, I run Brookes Therapy Training, where I teach accredited courses in massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, and energy therapies. My teaching background is varied — I began teaching dance and swimming with young children, then taught languages both overseas and in the UK before moving into therapy education in 2017. That background shapes the way I teach: practical, clear, encouraging, and always rooted in real clinical experience.
